Bhutan Climate
Bhutan’s climate is remarkably diverse, primarily shaped by its dramatic variations in altitude and the influence of the Indian summer monsoon. In the southern foothills, the weather is predominantly subtropical, characterized by hot, humid conditions and heavy annual rainfall that can reach over 7,000 mm in some areas. Moving into the central valleys, such as Thimphu and Paro, the climate shifts to a temperate zone with cool, dry winters and warm, pleasant summers where temperatures typically range from $15^{\circ}\text{C}$ to $26^{\circ}\text{C}$. In contrast, the northern alpine region near the Himalayan peaks remains cold year-round, with severe winters and perpetual snow at the highest elevations. The country effectively experiences four distinct seasons: a blooming and clear Spring (March–May), a lush and rainy Monsoon summer (June–August), a crisp and sunny Autumn (September–November) ideal for trekking, and a cold but bright Winter (December–February).
